RS Web Hosting
In this assignment we were to choose a topic from Rackspace's Intro to Web Hosting and write a brief synopsis of what we learned.
Web Hosting is a service that allows users to post web pages to the internet. The most common types of web hosting are:
- Shared Hosting - most basic and inexpensive hosting option. Customers share cost of hosting on their website on the same server
- Managed Hosting - providers owns the data center, network server devices and is responsible for deploying, maintaining and monitoring them;
- Dedicated Hosting - allows customer to lease pre-configured, dedicated equipment and connectivity from the provider
- Colocation Hosting - provider allows customers complete control over hosting their servers in-house; provider offers space for devices on a rack with low-performance bandwidth
- Cloud Hosting - hosting architecture that allows computing resources to be consumed as a service over the internet
